Adobe Journey Optimizer Expert
SlalomWho You’ll Work With
Slalom’s Enterprise Capability connects strategy to execution through business applications that unify data, streamline operations, and deliver measurable impact. We partner with platforms including Adobe to help organizations improve customer experience. You’ll collaborate with people who value experimentation, learning, and delivering results together.
Our Adobe team helps marketing teams turn customer data into personalized engagement. As an Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) Senior Principal, you’ll advise executives, set solution direction for complex journey orchestration programs, and guide teams from strategy through production. You’ll combine advanced AJO and Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) expertise with executive presentation skills, delivery judgment, and the ability to develop other technical leaders.
What You’ll Do
- Advise executive stakeholders on journey orchestration strategy, investment priorities, and transformation roadmaps. Connect recommendations to business value, delivery feasibility, and measurable key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Lead executive presentations, steering discussions, and decision workshops. Explain architecture options, costs, risks, and tradeoffs clearly; address challenging questions and build alignment across business and technology leaders.
- Own AJO solution direction across complex engagements. Lead architecture reviews, document key decisions, and guide teams on dependencies, platform constraints, and integration with the broader marketing ecosystem.
- Design and guide advanced journeys and campaigns, including event and audience entry, branching, reentry, suppression, frequency controls, personalization, and experimentation across inbound and outbound experiences.
- Lead AJO decisioning design, including decision items, eligibility rules, ranking strategies, and fallback behavior. Define how teams validate decisions and measure relevance and business outcomes.
- Guide AEP data and identity design with data specialists. Validate schemas, profile and audience readiness, event flows, and latency requirements. Design custom action integrations with appropriate authentication, error handling, and throughput controls.
- Establish delivery workflows for discovery, design reviews, testing, release readiness, monitoring, and support. Lead resolution of complex defects and production escalations while coaching teams through root cause analysis.
- Define implementation standards for consent, access, privacy, channel configuration, and deliverability with client specialists. Review operational risks and readiness before activation.
- Lead performance reviews against agreed KPIs and experimental evidence. Recommend improvements to journey strategy, decisioning, and operating processes, and communicate results to executive sponsors.
- Design reusable AI skills and workflows for delivery tasks, with clear inputs, tool access, validation, and human review. Assess agent integrations and measure improvements in quality and efficiency.
- Mentor Principals and Senior Consultants. Develop reusable solution patterns, review practices, and learn materials that improve delivery consistency across engagements.
- Partner with account and pursuit teams on discovery, solution narratives, proposals, estimates, and phased delivery approaches. Make assumptions, dependencies, and risks explicit before commitments are made.
· Help the candidate envision the role by describing the tangible things they would do on a regular basis
· Use the me@slalom career navigator when creating list of responsibilities.
· Here’s where we also add any hard requirements or important caveats: travel expectations
· Descriptions of duties should be no more than two or three sentences in length and should be outcome-based, containing an action, an object and a purpose
· The list of duties and responsibilities will vary in length, but as a rule, should be as short as possible, otherwise the document becomes an operational manual rather than a job description.
What You’ll Bring
- Ten or more years of experience in customer journey orchestration, marketing automation, or customer engagement technology, including leadership of complex enterprise implementations and advisory work with executive stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership of AJO implementations from discovery and architecture through production and optimization. Ability to explain your decisions, delivery challenges, and measurable outcomes.
- Advanced practical AJO expertise across journey and campaign design, decisioning, personalization, channel configuration, and custom actions. Ability to build or troubleshoot complex configurations when needed and review the work of experienced practitioners.
- Experience designing and delivering AJO Campaign Orchestration solutions, including audience selection, workflows, personalization, testing, and optimization.
- Advanced understanding of AEP schemas, identity, profile unification, audience evaluation, and event processing. Ability to assess how data quality, latency, scale, and platform guardrails affect solution design.
- Experience designing and troubleshooting REST API integrations using JSON and API testing tools, including authentication, error handling, and external system dependencies.
- Proven executive presentation and storytelling skills. Ability to create concise business narratives, present technical options and recommendations, respond to scrutiny, and facilitate decisions with senior business and technology leaders.
- Strong listening, negotiation, and relationship skills. Ability to navigate disagreement, influence without direct authority, and communicate difficult delivery messages with clarity and sound judgment.
- Experience establishing delivery workflows and quality standards across teams, managing technical dependencies, and guiding testing, releases, monitoring, and production recovery.
- Ability to translate customer engagement objectives into roadmaps, solution designs, estimates, and measurement plans, with clear ownership and success criteria.
- Advanced ability to design, document, test, and improve reusable AI skills and workflows. Apply appropriate data handling, evaluation, and human review controls to their use in delivery.
- Experience mentoring experienced consultants and technical leads, reviewing solution quality, and sharing practices that improve team capability.
- Understanding of consent, security, governance, and deliverability, with the judgment to engage client specialists where decisions require their expertise.
- Commitment to maintaining current Adobe expertise. A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience connecting AJO with Adobe Real Time CDP, Customer Journey Analytics, Adobe Target, or Adobe Campaign to support broader customer experience solutions.
- Experience leading transformations from Salesforce Marketing Cloud to AJO, including transformation strategy, journey redesign, data and integration planning, phased transition, and business adoption.
- Experience designing and implementing AJO B2B Edition solutions, including account journeys, buying group engagement, and alignment between marketing and sales.
- Experience implementing third party AI agent integrations with Adobe workflows and evaluating their reliability and business value.
- Adobe Journey Optimizer Business Practitioner Professional and Adobe Journey Optimizer Developer Expert certifications are preferred.
