Adobe Journey Optimizer Architect
SlalomWho You’ll Work With
Slalom’s Enterprise Capability connects strategy to execution through business applications that unify data, streamline operations, and deliver measurable impact. We partner with platforms including Adobe to help organizations improve customer experience. You’ll collaborate with people who value experimentation, learning, and delivering results together.
Our Adobe team helps marketing teams turn customer data into personalized engagement. As an Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) Senior Consultant, you’ll lead AJO delivery workstreams, combining practical expertise in Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) with client advisory skills. You’ll partner with marketing, IT, analytics, and architecture teams to translate business needs into journeys and campaigns, from requirements and configuration through testing, launch, and optimization.
What You’ll Do
- Own AJO workstream delivery, including requirements, solution design, configuration, testing, and launch readiness. Partner with architecture and data teams on dependencies, design decisions, and delivery risks.
- Facilitate client workshops to define use cases, journey strategies, requirements, and key performance indicators. Translate these into documented designs and configuration specifications.
- Build and optimize journeys triggered by events or audience entry, scheduled campaigns, and campaigns triggered through APIs. Configure personalized messages across email, SMS, and push notifications.
- Design journey conditions, branching, suppressions, frequency controls, and experiments to support relevant engagement and measurable optimization.
- Partner with data and integration teams to validate events, audiences, identity, and profile data. Configure AJO integrations and custom actions that connect journeys with external systems.
- Apply consent, privacy, and data governance requirements with client privacy and security teams. Configure channel settings and support email deliverability practices appropriate to each engagement.
- Validate journey paths, audience eligibility, personalization, message rendering, and integration behavior. Support user acceptance testing, troubleshoot defects, and provide support after launch.
- Document configurations, test results, deployment steps, and operating guidance. Train client teams and mentor junior consultants in AJO delivery practices.
- Analyze campaign and journey performance against agreed KPIs. Recommend and test improvements that help clients realize value from AJO and AEP.
- Configure AJO decisioning, including decision items, eligibility rules, and ranking strategies, to deliver relevant offers and content based on customer context and business priorities.
- Use approved AI tools to accelerate journey design, content variation, test preparation, documentation, and troubleshooting. Validate outputs and follow client data handling requirements.
What You’ll Bring
- Five or more years of experience in customer journey orchestration, marketing technology, or related fields.
- Ability to apply AI tools thoughtfully to delivery tasks, review their outputs, and explain where human judgment is required.
- Demonstrated experience implementing AJO in production, including journey configuration, testing, launch, and troubleshooting. Ability to explain your contribution and the outcomes delivered.
- Strong AJO expertise across journey logic, audience activation, personalization, and message delivery through email, SMS, and push notifications.
- Practical understanding of AEP data ingestion, Experience Data Model (XDM) schemas, identity and profile unification, audience evaluation, and event configuration.
- Experience working with API integrations and collaborating with technical teams to validate data flows and resolve integration issues.
- Understanding of consent, suppression, data governance, security, and email deliverability fundamentals. Ability to translate applicable client privacy requirements into implementation decisions.
- Experience translating large scale customer engagement strategies into delivery requirements, test plans, and measurable outcomes.
- Strong client communication and workshop facilitation skills, including explaining technical concepts to business audiences and coordinating decisions across teams.
- Ability to lead a delivery workstream, mentor junior consultants, solve problems, and adapt to changing client needs.
- Commitment to continuous learning as Adobe capabilities evolve, with a focus on applying new knowledge to client outcomes.
- A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of adjacent Adobe products, including Adobe Real-Time CDP, Adobe Campaign, Adobe Target, and Customer Journey Analytics.
- Experience working with REST APIs and JSON, using API testing tools to validate integrations and troubleshoot data flows
- Experience connecting third party AI agents to Adobe workflows, or a strong willingness to learn how to assess and implement appropriate integrations.
- Deep understanding of custom actions and channels to use AJO in both inbound and outbound.
- Knowledge of SFMC and how AJO interconnects with that from a transformation and integration perspective.
- Experience with AJO B2B Edition understanding how it adds value to the AEP ecosystem.
- Adobe Journey Optimizer Business or Developer certification. Certification is preferred, not required.
