The Sisters of Compassion Group is seeking an experienced and creative Marketing, Communications & Brand Specialist to join our team on a maternity cover contract based at the Home of Compassion, Island Bay, Wellington.

Inspired by the legacy of Meri Hōhepa Suzanne Aubert, we work to bring compassion, dignity, hospitality and care to communities across Aotearoa. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine strategic marketing, storytelling, brand management, audience engagement and creative design to help grow awareness of our mission and strengthen connections with supporters, visitors, donors and community partners.

About the Role

Reporting to the Fundraising, Marketing and Communications Team Leader, you will lead the development and delivery of integrated marketing initiatives that increase engagement, strengthen our brand, and support fundraising and organisational goals.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll

  • Develop and implement marketing campaigns across digital and print channels.
  • Identify and develop opportunities to increase audience engagement, visitor numbers, venue utilisation and fundraising outcomes.
  • Use audience insights, analytics and campaign performance data to inform marketing strategy and decision-making.
  • Develop targeted marketing approaches for key stakeholder groups including donors, visitors, conference clients, pilgrims, community partners and supporters.
  • Provide strategic marketing advice to senior leaders on market opportunities, audience trends and emerging communication channels.
  • Ensure the consistent application and evolution of the Compassion brand.
  • Coordinate and manage website content, publications, campaigns and promotional materials.
  • Support fundraising, advocacy and awareness initiatives through creative marketing.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to produce high-quality marketing collateral and resources

About You

You will be a marketing professional who combines strategic thinking with a hands-on approach and a passion for purpose-driven work.

You'll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications, Brand Management, Graphic Design or a related field.
  • Proven experience in marketing, communications and brand management.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, audience engagement and campaign analytics.
  • Experience using data and insights to evaluate campaign effectiveness and drive improvements.
  • Excellent content development, copywriting and storytelling skills.
  • Experience managing websites, social media platforms and digital campaigns.
  • A strong eye for brand consistency, design and visual communication.
  • Outstanding relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams while managing competing priorities.
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
