Project Coordinator
Overview:
- Manages, plans, and coordinates activities of projects to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
- Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of projects.
- Establishes work plan and multi-disciplinary staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
Typical Functions:
- Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
- Reviewing project specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Conducting material takeoffs (calculating quantities from drawings).
- Interacting with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing.
- Managing project bids and proposals.
- Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
- Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
- Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
- Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is commonly preferred, though experienced electricians, estimators or project managers can fill this role.
- 3–5 years of experience in electrical estimating, contracting, or as a field electrician.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
- Experience with takeoff and estimating software such as Accubid, ConEst, Esticom, or Trimble or AEC Inspire. Must be proficient in Excel
- Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical materials, and labor units.
- Strong mathematical abilities to compute costs, percentages, and materials.
- High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in bidding.
- Strong communication skills for presenting estimates to clients and teams.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet strict tender deadlines
Compensation Details: The expected base salary for this position is starting at $45,000 annually depending on experience. This position is also bonus eligible - based on specific and relevant business metrics.
