eCommerce Business Analyst (Shopify)

Role Overview
- You’ll play a key role in the design, delivery, and optimization of Shopify eCommerce experiences, working closely with merchants, developers, designers, and project managers. From requirements gathering to Shopify configuration, integrations, QA, and merchant enablement, you’ll help launch and evolve storefronts that drive revenue, operational efficiency, and exceptional customer experiences.
- This role sits at the intersection of commerce strategy, technology, and execution, supporting both DTC and B2B Shopify Plus implementations.
Key Responsibilities
- Shopify & eCommerce Platform Configuration
- *
Configure and support Shopify and Shopify Plus storefronts, including themes, settings, metafields, and structured data.
- Translate merchant business requirements into Shopify-native and custom solutions.
- eCommerce Requirements & Discovery
- *
Partner with merchants and internal teams to gather, document, and validate business, functional, and technical requirements.
- Develop user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specs tailored to eCommerce workflows (catalogs, checkout, promotions, fulfillment, etc.).
- Quality Assurance & Testing
- *
Lead functional, exploratory, and usability testing across storefronts, integrations, and customer journeys.
- Coordinate and support UAT with merchants; document and track issues in tools such as Linear or Jira.
- Systems & Commerce Integrations
- *
Collaborate with developers and partners to integrate Shopify with ERP, CRM, PIM, OMS, payment gateways, tax, shipping, and other third-party platforms.
- Support data mapping and validation for products, pricing, inventory, orders, and customers.
- Backlog & Documentation Management
- *
Maintain and prioritize eCommerce backlogs.
- Produce clear documentation, including user stories, process flows, system diagrams, and release notes.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- *
Act as a key liaison between merchants, developers, designers, and project managers to ensure alignment, clarity, and smooth delivery.
- Communicate complex eCommerce concepts in a clear, merchant-friendly way.
- Merchant Enablement & Training
- *
Create and deliver training materials and sessions for Shopify workflows, admin tools, and new features.
- Support merchants post-launch to ensure confidence and adoption.
- Agile Delivery Support
- *
Participate in and support agile ceremonie,s including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Shopify or Shopify Plus (theme configuration, metafields, data structures, integrations), or comparable eCommerce platforms such as Lightspeed, Magento, or BigCommerce.
- Strong understanding of eCommerce data models, including products, variants, inventory, pricing, orders, customers, and promotions.
- Experience working in at least two of the following areas: digital agency, eCommerce consulting, omnichannel retail, business analysis, project management, or digital marketing.
- Proven ability to write clear user stories and functional requirements for both front-end and back-end eCommerce features.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Liquid, with the ability to collaborate effectively with development teams.
- Solid understanding of eCommerce best practices, conversion optimization, checkout flows, and customer experience principles.
- Experience working in agile environments, managing backlogs, and supporting sprint and release planning.
- Familiarity with integrating eCommerce platforms with ERP, CRM, payment providers, shipping, and tax solutions.
- Experience conducting detailed QA and UAT, using issue-tracking tools such as Linear or Jira.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to adapt quickly and problem-solve.
- Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

The pay range for this role is
50,000 - 80,000 CAD per year(Vancouver)
