Role Overview

Gray Swan AI seeks a founding Marketing leader to boost product-led growth (PLG) and inbound marketing for our commercial efforts. AI has revolutionized marketing in the last two years, creating significant noise and rendering old playbooks obsolete. We need a visionary "doer" who has actively engaged with how AI has reshaped channels like email and LinkedIn.

This is a crucial, full-cycle role for a hands-on individual who thrives in a fast-paced startup and is eager to build from the ground up. You'll own content and events, shaping our brand and driving initial market success.

Your primary mission is to establish our brand, drive free trial sign-ups, generate and nurture inbound leads, and create strategic outbound engagement through compelling storytelling.

What You'll Do

  • Pioneer our Brand & Storytelling: Define, develop, and amplify our distinct brand voice, messaging, and visual identity. Craft narratives that resonate with our target audience and differentiate us.
  • Drive Product-Led Growth (PLG) through Marketing: Strategize and execute marketing initiatives with our Product team to directly support our PLG model, focusing on user acquisition, activation, and retention through product-centric campaigns.
  • Develop and Execute a High-Impact Content Strategy: Own the end-to-end content lifecycle, from ideation to optimization. This includes:
  • Website copy, landing pages, and product messaging
  • Blog posts and thought leadership
  • Case studies, whitepapers, and e-books
  • Email campaigns (nurture, newsletters, product updates)
  • Social media content
  • Video scripts and concepts
  • Optimize Inbound Marketing & Lead Generation: Implement and manage comprehensive inbound marketing strategies to attract, engage, and convert prospective users. This involves:
  • Lead Nurturing: Develop personalized communication to guide prospects through the PLG/sales funnel.
  • Marketing Automation: Build, manage, and optimize automated marketing workflows to nurture leads from awareness to free trial sign-up and beyond.
  • SEO and AI SEO: Conduct keyword research, optimize content, and manage technical SEO to improve organic search rankings and drive traffic.
  • Plan and Execute Engaging Events: Manage marketing events, including webinars, workshops, conference sponsorships, and community gatherings, designed to generate leads, educate the market, and build brand affinity.
  • Measure, Analyze, and Optimize Performance: Establish clear KPIs and track, analyze, and report on campaign performance. Use data to iterate, optimize, and continually improve marketing effectiveness and ROI.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Account teams to ensure seamless user experiences, consistent messaging, and aligned growth initiatives.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: Continuously research industry trends, competitor strategies, and emerging marketing technologies.

Who You Are

  • A Proven "Doer": You have 5+ years of hands-on marketing experience, ideally in a fast-paced B2B SaaS or technology startup.
  • AI-Native Marketer: You deeply understand how AI has reshaped GTM strategies and marketing channels. You are well-versed in emerging AI-driven GTM best practices and leverage new technologies to enhance marketing workflows and impact.
  • Self-Starter & Independent: You thrive with high autonomy, taking initiative, solving problems creatively, and managing multiple projects with minimal oversight.
  • Content Architect & Storyteller: You possess exceptional writing, editing, and content creation skills, with a portfolio demonstrating engaging and conversion-focused content.
  • Analytical & Data-Driven: You're comfortable with marketing analytics tools (e.g., PostHog, CRM dashboards) and skilled at using data to inform decisions and optimize campaigns.
  • Event Maestro: You have experience planning, promoting, and executing successful virtual and/or in-person marketing events.
  • Inbound Marketing Expert: You are proficient in SEO best practices, email marketing, and marketing automation platforms.
  • Product-Led Growth: You have experience executing marketing strategies that support a product-led growth model.
  • Collaborative & Communicative: You have strong interpersonal skills and can effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience with Attio, Webflow, and Figma.
  • A strong network within the cybersecurity or AI spaces.
  • Experience scaling marketing functions in an early-stage startup.

Compensation Structure

We offer a competitive compensation package designed to reward impact and incentivize growth:

  • Base Salary: $102,320 through $163,300, depending on experience level & location
