About the team and the role

At eBay SEO, we develop scalable, creative solutions that boost the experience and value for users discovering eBay through search, social, and emerging AI-enhanced answer engines. With search changing from links to answers, we are passionate about guaranteeing eBay’s content, data, and experiences are easy to find, accurate, and reliable across traditional search engines and AI-based platforms.

We are seeking a SEO & AEO Technical Product Manager to own the strategy and development of products. These products improve discoverability on classic search engines (Google, Bing) and on answer engines or AI search platforms like generative search experiences and LLM-powered assistants.

This position combines technical SEO, AI search optimization, and product management. You will work closely with engineering, data science, creative, and content teams. Together, you will develop systems that support scalable crawlability, index-ability, structured understanding, and machine-readable signals for ranking and answer generation.

The ideal candidate has a strong proficiency in how search engines and AI models process, understand, and present information. They can translate this knowledge into clear product strategies, detailed requirements, and measurable results.

What you will Accomplish

  • Lead product efforts to make eBay content discoverable, trustworthy, and answer-eligible for AI-powered search and generative experiences.
  • You will define and complete the SEO & AEO product roadmap, aligning initiatives with business goals, search platform evolution, and discovery trends powered by artificial intelligence.
  • Balance near-term SEO wins with long-term investments in AI-readiness and answer-first discovery.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert on technical SEO and Answer Engine Optimization, ensuring guidelines are embedded into platform architecture and tooling.
  • Drive initiatives related to crawlability, indexing, rendering, site performance, internal linking, structured data, and entity modeling.
  • Define benchmarks and success metrics for SEO and AEO performance, including rankings, traffic quality, rich result coverage, and AI answer visibility.
  • Examine data from tools such as Google Search Console, BigQuery, SEMrush, Lumar, and internal platforms to inform prioritization and decision-making.
  • Use experimentation and analysis to validate impact and iterate on product improvements.
  • Stay current on search engine updates, AI search trends, structured data standards, and competitive strategies.
  • Proactively assess risks and opportunities from platform changes (e.g., generative SERPs, zero-click answers).

What you will bring

  • 6+ years of experience in technical SEO, product management, or related roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of search technologies, generative experiences, or content optimization for LLMs is strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of SEO fundamentals, search engine algorithms, and modern web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Practical experience using tools like Google’s Search Console, Google’s BigQuery, Google Colab, Screaming Frog, Lumar, SEMrush, SimilarWeb, Profound and internal analytics platforms.
  • Familiarity with structured data, schema.org, entity optimization, and machine-readable content frameworks.
