Director of Product Management - Texturants
Job Description
The Director of Product Management is responsible for the overall performance and strategic direction of the Texturants portfolio, with a strong focus on driving sustainable, profitable growth across the business. This role will lead and develop a team of Product Managers, overseeing their assigned product lines and supporting initiatives such as portfolio expansion, employee development, competitive analysis, sales enablement, and product adoption.
The Director owns key performance indicators (KPIs) for the product lines and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Executive Leadership—to drive revenue growth, improve profitability, and enhance client retention.
This position also provides daily leadership and oversight of the Product Management team and their respective categories and vendor relationships. The Director is expected to maintain deep knowledge of both products and suppliers, serving as a critical point of contact for the sales organization, customer service teams, and senior leadership.
Responsibilities
- Vendor Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key vendors within Batory Foods’ product portfolio, building and maintaining strong, collaborative partnerships.
- Develop a deep understanding of supplier products, including features, functionality, end-use applications, and customer segments to uncover growth opportunities.
- Educate internal teams on key ingredient applications and market relevance.
- Collaborate with vendors to grow Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) business and align on shared growth strategies.
- Work to elevate Batory’s strategic importance with vendors to establish exclusive programs and "Power Partnerships."
- Attend vendor-led training sessions to stay informed on product functionality and market trends.
- Oversee high-level pricing and contract negotiations in coordination with the product management team.
- Ensure vendors consistently deliver high-quality products and services.
- Revenue Management:
- Own full P&L responsibility for the product portfolio, with a focus on profitability, pricing strategy, and margin optimization.
- Establish clear margin targets, price banding, and break-even points.
- Partner with Sales and Supply Chain to reduce inventory age and maximize margin contribution.
- Identify and address inefficiencies in transportation, warehousing, and packaging.
- Understand market pricing dynamics between distribution and direct sales.
- Master cost models and margin structures to provide timely quotes and pricing insights to Sales.
- Stay current on domestic and international market trends and pricing platforms.
- Lead efforts to achieve a minimum of 10% year-over-year portfolio growth.
- Business Development:
- Set cross-functional goals, align priorities, and hold teams accountable to deliverables.
- Identify emerging market segments, competitive threats, and areas for expansion.
- Support and execute sales and marketing strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Lead targeted initiatives to promote complementary ingredient lines and unlock new revenue streams.
- Represent the company at industry events, customer sites, and vendor meetings.
- Continuously assess SKU performance and make informed decisions on SKU introductions or rationalization.
- Strategic Planning:
- Define and implement product line strategies that align global, regional, and local goals.
- Guide long-term vision and roadmap for the portfolio, ensuring transparency and alignment across departments.
- Monitor competitive activity and integrate insights into platform strategy.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Product Management team while maintaining hands-on involvement with key vendors.
- Drive talent development through coaching and performance management.
- Actively contribute to executing the broader strategic vision set by the Batory Leadership Team.

- A Bachelor’s degree with a focus in science, food science or business administration, or an equivalent
- combination of work experience and
- Eight years’ progressive work experience in a business environment with at least five years in food ingredients or food manufacturing.
- Experience in product management, physicals trading, or procurement with exposure to sales, vendors, logistics and customer service.
- Experience in a product management or purchasing environment with exposure to sales, vendors, logistics and customer service.
- Demonstrated food industry knowledge with exposure to ingredient.
