Senior Account Manager SEO

You'll own a portfolio of high‑priority SEO clients and be the person they trust to explain what's happening, why it matters, and how it drives their pipeline.
This is a senior individual contributor role. Our SEO, content, off‑page, and dev teams handle execution. You lead the relationship, run the calls, translate the data, and protect retention.

What Success Looks Like (In The First 12 Months)
- Own a portfolio of ~20-25 active SEO clients (depending on scope and complexity).
- Maintain ≥ 90% logo (client) retention across your book. Your performance bonus is tied to this.
- Consistently flag and address risks at least 30 days before they become churn.
- Identify and improve at least one core client communication or reporting process and help standardize it across the team.
What You'll Do
- Client Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for your client portfolio. Run regular check‑ins, performance reviews, and day‑to‑day correspondence that keep clients informed and confident.
- Performance Reporting: Present campaign data from Google Search Console, Ahrefs, and GA4 and turn it into clear, useful narratives. You make the numbers meaningful, not just visible.
- Internal Coordination: Act as the bridge between clients and our SEO team. Relay feedback, flag concerns, communicate priorities, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
- Expectation Management: Set and maintain realistic expectations around timelines, volatility, and compounding SEO outcomes. When strategies evolve, you explain what changed and why.
- Client Retention: Own retention for your book of business. Monitor sentiment, surface friction early, and resolve issues before they escalate.
- Process Improvement: Identify communication and reporting gaps, propose solutions, and help implement better workflows for the entire team.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years leading client relationships in an SEO agency or digital marketing firm. You've led executive‑level client calls, handled tough conversations, and kept high‑value accounts renewing.
- You can read ranking/traffic reports and explain what's really happening in plain language to non‑technical clients.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of keeping clients informed, aligned, and renewed.
- Experience managing a portfolio of 20-25 high‑priority clients in a fast‑moving environment.
- Comfortable working with Google Search Console, Ahrefs, and Google Analytics (GA4).
- Must be based in Canada.
- Proven history of improving client retention and/or strengthening internal processes.
Preferred
- Previous experience as an SEO practitioner before moving into a client‑facing role.
- Familiarity with local, national, and e‑commerce SEO campaign types.
- Background in a high‑growth, performance‑focused agency environment.
