SEO Strategist (Remote Canada)

The Content Strategist is a crucial, client-facing role responsible for day-to-day client deliverables, creating and managing custom client strategies, and communicating with both clients and internal stakeholders. The Strategist handles more Enterprise clients and is expected to have a deep understanding of their service line and how it impacts other areas of the business to create a holistic marketing strategy. Internally, this role is titled Account Strategist, Content & SEO.
What You'll Do
- Strategic Excellence and Best Practices: Create custom strategies and implement best practices to achieve NSMs. Use the project phase as a foundation for the initial client strategy and continuously optimize strategies based on goals, campaigns, and performance while adhering to Directive best practices.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Associate Director (AsD) when roadblocks arise that impact strategy and goal attainment.
- Creative and Content Campaigns: Craft creative briefs and campaigns with ideation based on competitor and audience insights; apply best practices to position clients to exceed goals. Include: LTV:CAC modeling, Customer Generation, Share of SERP, Content Production.
- Goal Setting: Use available data to set client goals during engagement, reviewed and approved by the AsD in meetings.
- Data Sources: Google Analytics, CRM data, SEMRush reporting, and Ahrefs reporting. All goals must be approved by the AsD before presenting to the client.
- Project Management: Ensure strategy execution; delegate tasks using Asana and coordinate with Specialists, clients, and internal teams to meet timelines. Partner with Project Managers when present to ensure tasks are created, assigned, and due dates met. Collaborate with content writers and designers to deliver high-quality campaigns on time.
- Internal and External Communication: Act as the main interface with clients and the team; build relationships beyond deliverables and proactively communicate progress, timelines, and deliverables via channels like Slack and bi-weekly meetings. Communicate roadblocks, growth opportunities, and strategic changes to internal leadership.
- Reporting: Regularly report to clients on progress and impact. Cadence: bi-weekly client meetings with NSM progress and deliverables; monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual business review presentations.
What You'll Bring
- Proven track record implementing SEO principles and content strategy: keyword research, on-page optimization, and link building.
- Analytical insight: ability to analyze website traffic and SEO metrics with tools like Google Analytics.
- Strong communication skills: comfortable client-facing and managing relationships with key stakeholders.
- Familiarity with industry tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog/crawling tools.
- Proven organizational, project, and time management skills.
- Genuine enthusiasm for digital marketing, SEO, and content.
- Agency experience required.
- B2B tech and/or SaaS experience required.
- Driven to stay ahead of industry trends, including how AI and automation can enhance marketing and operations.

- Strategists should regularly seek opportunities for client growth with Directive, such as expanding into another service line (e.g., SEO or Paid Media) or increasing content, SEO, or Paid Media budgets.
- Referrals are encouraged at key moments, such as when a client changes points of contact or starts a new job.
- Client leaves a 5 CSAT score.
