Social Media Coordinator (Govex)
This position will create, organize and coordinate all aspects of social media and public outreach for the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (PRC). This individual will work closely with the Public Information Officer, the Project Manager and Senior Training Coordinator in the Chief of Staff’s Office and function as a backup in their absence. This is a Governor Exempt “at will” position at a pay band 20.
In this position, the Social Media Coordinator will:
• Support planning, development, and implementation of a coordinated, PRC social media strategy, including establishing procedures to ensure efficient, targeted, and measurable outcomes.
• Coordinate logistical activities to support successful delivery of social media campaigns and messaging.
• Work with PIO to develop media topics.
• Work with PRC staff to create social media videos, clips, and stories.
• Develop & deliver social media content, educational content, & program-related marketing & informational resources for diverse audiences.
• Develop performance metrics and evaluation standards to assess campaign effectiveness.
• Monitor campaign activities & participation rates against established goals; report on progress to agency leadership.
• Provide information, guidance, & technical assistance to staff.
• Follow PRC and energy-related social media content, engage with non-PRC content creators and relevant influencers as appropriate. Maintain unified brand voice, ensure accessibility of content.
• Monitor social conversations, trends, and sentiment, ability to identify issues requiring escalation to leadership or PR/communications staff.
• Respond to comments, messages, and inquiries professionally and on-brand to support positive community engagement.
• Stay current on platform changes, algorithms, and best practices to continually optimize engagement and outreach.
• Coordinate photography, videography, graphics production, and other multimedia content needs.
• Independently manage complex assignments or other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will:
• Be an excellent communicator, detail oriented, and have strong organizational skills.
• Have a demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
• Demonstrate expertise with content creation across multiple platforms, including design tools such as Canva and basic photo/video editing applications.
• Demonstrate proficiency with social media scheduling, analytics, and listening tools.
• Possess strong copywriting and editing skills.
• Understand platform-specific trends, audience behavior, and basic algorithm-driven content optimization.
• Possess a willingness to learn and stay current on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices
• Be willing and able to travel as needed for events, outreach activities, or onsite content creation.
Education and Experience Standards:
High school diploma and experience working in a professional environment. Bonus if you’re great at making technical content fun!
