Head of Marketing

Claret Asset Management

About Claret

Founded in Montréal in 1996, Claret Asset Management provides independent discretionary portfolio management services to high-net-worth private clients. For 30 years, the firm has combined disciplined, long-term investing with highly personal service, direct access to investment professionals and a commitment to relationships.

As Claret enters its next chapter, the firm is investing in its brand presence and modernizing its marketing capabilities while preserving the independence, accessibility, expertise and human connection that define the Claret experience.

The Opportunity

This newly created role offers a rare opportunity to build and shape Claret’s marketing function rather than simply inherit one. Working directly with the CEO and in close partnership with the Head of Human Resources, senior leadership, portfolio managers and client-facing professionals, the Head of Marketing will develop and execute an integrated strategy that increases brand awareness, deepens client relationships and supports sustainable growth.

The mandate combines strategic thinking with entrepreneurial, hands-on execution. Initially an individual contributor role with significant autonomy and influence, it includes the ability to recommend and manage agencies, freelancers and specialist partners. As the strategy delivers results and the firm’s needs evolve, the role and the capabilities around it are expected to grow.

What you will help build

  • Define and articulate what makes Claret distinctive in an increasingly competitive wealth-management market.
  • Build awareness among high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, professionals, families and next-generation investors.
  • Strengthen the digital expression of the Claret experience without losing its personal character.
  • Showcase the expertise and authentic voices of Claret’s portfolio managers and professionals.
  • Create meaningful connections with clients and prospects through content, events, thought leadership and relationship marketing.
  • Align Claret’s external brand, internal culture and employer experience in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Use Claret’s 30th anniversary to celebrate its history and introduce the firm’s next chapter.
  • Establish the processes, partnerships, technology and performance measures needed to support sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

Marketing & Growth Strategy

  • Partner with the CEO and senior leadership to develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with business objectives, client needs and growth ambitions.
  • Translate priorities into focused initiatives, campaigns, budgets and measurable outcomes.
  • Bring an informed perspective on evolving marketing practices, client expectations, generational shifts and competitive trends.

Brand, Culture & Client Experience

  • Steward and evolve the Claret brand across every client, candidate and employee touchpoint.
  • Develop and maintain brand guidelines, messaging and visual standards to ensure consistency across channels.
  • Partner with Human Resources on employer branding, employee communications and talent initiatives so the external brand authentically reflects Claret’s culture.

Content, Thought Leadership & Communications

  • Develop a bilingual (French and English) content strategy that makes investment topics accessible, useful and engaging.
  • Create or oversee content for websites, social media, newsletters, videos, email campaigns, market updates, announcements, print materials and thought-leadership platforms.
  • Translate the expertise of portfolio managers and subject-matter experts into compelling content while preserving their authentic voices.
  • Ensure all external communications are clear, engaging, brand-consistent and compliant with applicable regulatory requirements.

Digital Marketing, Website & Lead Generation

  • Lead the digital marketing ecosystem, including website strategy, SEO, email marketing, social media, digital campaigns and paid advertising, including LinkedIn and Google Ads where appropriate.
  • Continuously improve website content, user experience, performance and lead-generation effectiveness; conduct regular audits for broken links, outdated content, technical errors and optimization opportunities.
  • Create campaigns and materials that generate qualified leads, nurture prospects and support client-facing teams throughout the relationship-development process.

Client, Advisor & Business Development Support

  • Develop initiatives that deepen existing client relationships and introduce Claret to prospective clients.
  • Advise portfolio managers and client-facing professionals on thought leadership, personal branding, networking, digital presence, client communications and relationship-building strategies.
  • Help the firm respond to generational differences in how clients and prospects consume information, build trust and engage with financial professionals.

Events, Public Relations & Reputation

  • Develop and execute client and prospect events, conferences, educational initiatives and networking experiences, including promotion and post-event follow-up.
  • Identify earned-media, speaking, award, partnership and industry-engagement opportunities that strengthen Claret’s visibility and reputation.
  • Build relationships with relevant media and external organizations, and manage PR initiatives directly or through an external agency.

Analytics, Performance & Partners

  • Establish meaningful KPIs and reporting for brand awareness, engagement, lead generation, conversion and campaign return on investment.
  • Provide senior leadership with clear insights into what is working, what can improve and where Claret should invest next.
  • Select and manage agencies, freelancers and specialist providers across creative, digital, PR, media, web development, events and content production.

Compliance & Governance

  • Work collaboratively with Compliance to ensure marketing activities and communications meet applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Build compliance considerations naturally into marketing processes while finding creative and effective ways to communicate in a regulated industry.

Who we're looking for

You are an experienced marketer who combines strategic perspective with an entrepreneurial mindset toward action. You are equally comfortable discussing positioning and growth priorities with senior leaders and turning an idea into a campaign, piece of content, event or external partnership.

You are curious about the business behind the marketing and invest time in understanding clients, employees, portfolio managers, competitors and the firm’s ambitions before recommending solutions. You are also a relationship builder: approachable, collaborative and able to influence across functions and levels without relying on formal authority.

You understand that sophisticated does not have to mean impersonal—and that in a relationship-driven business, not everything that matters can be measured by a click.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Approximately 10+ years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, brand or a related field, ideally including experience building or significantly evolving a marketing function.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong strategic marketing capabilities combined with demonstrated hands-on execution.
  • Experience in investment management, wealth management, financial services or professional services is a strong asset.
  • Experience in a regulated environment is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of brand strategy, content marketing, digital marketing, client engagement and lead generation.
  • Demonstrated working experience with WordPress, Elementor, ActiveCampaign, Google Analytics, social media platforms, Microsoft Office and LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
  • Experience managing agencies, freelancers or external specialist partners.
  • PR and media-relations experience, directly or through agency management, is an asset.
  • Experience partnering with Human Resources on employer branding, employee communications or talent initiatives is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English are required.

Core Competencies

  • Strategic thinking and sound business judgment
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, resourcefulness and bias toward action
  • Creativity balanced by pragmatism
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling
  • Relationship building and cross-functional influence
  • Project management, organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Adaptability and comfort moving between strategy and execution
  • Discretion and appreciation for the trust required in wealth management

Working at Claret

  • High level of autonomy, ownership and direct exposure to senior leadership
  • Opportunity to shape and grow the firm’s marketing function
  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial and relationship-driven environment
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits
  • Modern offices in the heart of downtown Montréal
  • Professional development and continuous learning opportunities
