VP - Field Merchandising
Michaels Stores
Support Center - Irving
The VP - Field Merchandising responsible for taking the commercial strategy and plans from merchandising, marketing, and supply chain and translating it into a locally relevant, store friendly program to drive consistent and scalable in-store execution to customers across all countries, divisions, regions, districts and stores. Ensures feedback and local needs are incorporated into the strategic plans through excellent collaboration with merchants, marketers, and supply chain teams. Works cross-functionally with store operations, customer experience, and communications to facilitate repeatable, efficient and effective tactics to maximize sales. Participates in the annual budgeting process and quarterly performance reviews with finance teams.
Lead the development and execution of retail store experience, aligning with company vision and financial goals.
- Direct field sales execution plans to drive revenue, conversion, and customer satisfaction across all store formats.
- Identify and execute local sales/merchandising opportunities that drive top line and bottom line results.
- Develop and implement field merchandising strategies that align with company initiatives and local market opportunities.
- Optimize retail operations by developing scalable processes, tools, and performance standards for in-store execution.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align Merchandising, Marketing, and promotional initiatives with store capabilities.
- Analyze sales performance, market trends, and customer insights to inform strategy and continuous improvement.
- Oversee change management and rollout of new programs and technologies to ensure effective adoption at the store level.
- Monitor competitive landscape and retail innovations to maintain a forward-thinking, market-responsive approach.
- Ensure all end-to-end project-related aspects of new store openings, store relay, and remodel projects are executed.

- Cultivate strong cross-functional partnerships with key business areas needed to support team goals including store operations, merchandising, marketing and finance.
- Ensures teamwork and cohesion between teams, business units, and other company functions.
- Act as a positive, proactive communication resource that links together stores, merchandising, marketing and all other cross-functional teams as needed.
- Encourage two-way communications and promote shared learning, empowering team members to resolve issues by delegating tasks to the appropriate level.
- Inspire, collaborate, and move the cross-functional team towards a unified vision, relentlessly putting the customer first and at the center.
- Demonstrate agility in leadership style and flexibility of approach, with the ability to think strategically (high-level) and tactically (to drive execution)
- Attract and recruit top talent, motivate the team, delegate effectively, celebrate diversity within the team.
- Manage performance and be a strong developer of talent.
- Drive succession planning and talent development for areas of responsibility

- Partner with other leaders in the Merchandising team to strengthen market relationships and knowledge of market trends, strengths, and weaknesses.

Minimum Type of Experience Required
- 15 years of Stores, Store Operations, Merchandising experience exhibiting progressively responsible assignments.
- Experience developing and driving strategic initiatives.
- Experience using consumer insights, competitive assessment, space management, and financial analysis to establish strategic direction to identify localized sales opportunities.
