As a Software Development Engineer III at Amazon, you will play a crucial role in solving complex problems related to distributed systems, security, concurrency, scalability, availability, durability, and performance engineering. Working alongside top technical talent and utilizing a pure AWS infrastructure, you will translate user needs, help define the roadmap, design, develop, deploy and test end‑to‑end solutions. Your presence strengthens the team, as you regularly contribute to the professional growth of your colleagues. With an understanding of how technical choices impact the business, you guide technology decisions to create amazing customer experiences. Collaborating closely with organizational leaders, you ensure your solutions align with broader objectives.
Successful Software Engineer candidates have a solid background in modern programming languages, distributed system design, service‑oriented architecture, and highly scalable/resilient applications. Experience in big data and machine learning is a plus. Equally important is the ability to multi‑task, invent, create reliable and maintainable code, and find creative, scalable solutions to difficult problems.
Key Job Responsibilities
A strong background in algorithms, data structures, Java, and databases both SQL and NoSQL.
The ability to communicate clearly and concisely (both written and orally) and work well in a team across geographies.
Ability to quickly adapt to new development environments, learn new systems, create reliable and maintainable code, and find creative and scalable solutions to difficult problems.
Experience working with high‑traffic, scalable services.

Basic Qualifications
5+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language.
5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
Experience leading and influencing your team or organization, or contributing to the architecture and design (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
